Artist’s Note

These two pieces signify trace in the way of discovering, investigating and developing a perspective of self outside of what’s “real” to our physical senses. I wanted to focus on the message encompassing pieces of our being we trace back to identity (love, belief, legacy, path-creating/journeying). I draw inspiration from finding the grayscale between two seemingly opposite ideas. My piece connects to the theme of trace “to discover by investigation” and to “take a particular path or route.” In my pieces, I set out explore the spectrum of gray as we discover ourselves. My work embodies this by recognizing the hope that exists in the world, and the multitude of paths that are available to create a world we of positive change.
